Academic study is at the heart of our Sixth Form. Students have five hours of lessons for each A Level and BTEC subject that they study each week, in addition to private study, co-curricular and super curricular sessions
Our Sixth Form is designed to ease students into the study skills needed to thrive at A Level and beyond. It is a big step up from GCSEs in many ways, so our classes are small and the collegiate nature of our teaching encourages pupils to discuss and resolve any study challenges. When they are not in class, pupils have guided private study as well as free periods.
Studying for A Levels is both exciting and challenging. All students are encouraged to think carefully about what they choose to study as they will need to work hard and be motivated – much easier if they have chosen subjects they are passionate about. A Levels at FBS take place over the course of two years, with pupils being examined at the end of Year 13.
