The Fulham Boys School

16-19 Bursary Fund

The Fulham Boys School currently offers the 16-19 Bursary to pupils in the Sixth Form. A bursary is money that pupils can use to pay for things like:

  • clothing, books and other equipment for your course
  • transport and lunch on days you study or train

There are 2 types of Sixth Form bursary:

Vulnerable Bursary

  • you’re in or you recently left local authority care
  • you get Income Support or Universal Credit because you’re financially supporting yourself
  • you get Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in your name and either Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit*
  • you get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in your name and either ESA or Universal Credit

Discretionary Bursary

  • In receipt of Free School Meals and still entitled to them (no evidence required – we already have this information)
  • Low Income Families – (gross income less than £16,190) evidence must be provided to Miss Fryer e.g. P60, Tax Credits, Job Seekers Allowance, Pension Credits.
  • This can also include one off payments for individual education related costs (receipts are required as evidence of purchase and a letter of request explaining the reason for the top-up payment**)

* Students who meet the criteria for bursaries for vulnerable groups are not automatically entitled to them if they do not have financial needs and/or their financial needs are covered from other sources

**Subject to available funds

If you are in Year 13 and were previously in receipt of the Sixth Form Bursary, you will be eligible again (we will let you know if we require any additional/updated information).

Applications should be made by the end of September.

For more information about how to apply, please contact the Head of Sixth Form, Nicola Clegg: n.clegg@fulhamboysschool.org.uk.
