On the right course
On Monday we had a visit from the Department for Education to check on how we have started, and our progress to date. They looked at everything – health and safety, behaviour, standards, teaching and learning, co-curriculum, target setting and tracking, learning environment, and leadership and management. It is a rigorous process where books are checked and policies and plans are scrutinised. Boys were surveyed, some teachers were observed whilst others were interviewed.
Our advisor said he was really impressed with the school and found our boys to be ‘inspirational’. He said they were clearly proud of being a Fulham boy; uniform and behaviour was excellent and there was a real culture of high aspirations and a determination to succeed. He said our boys were happy and enjoyed school – which to me is so important. Whilst there is lots we have still to do and embed, the visit has left me more confident that ever that we will achieve outstanding when Ofsted visit us in term 5.
On top of that, we gained first place in the Hammersmith and Fulham indoor rowing competition this week. Rowing is one of our four core sports so to get off to a flying start was so important. All of this is encouraging in our relentless pursuit to be the very best. Of course we are not there yet but we are definitely on the way.
