After nine years at FBS, Alun Ebenezer will be leaving at the end of the summer term. We are sure you will join us in thanking him for all that he has achieved as our Founding Headmaster, working tirelessly to establish FBS as a pioneering Free school, so clearly focused on giving every one of our students the opportunity to develop emotionally, spiritually and academically.
Since joining in 2013, Alun has taken FBS from the written aspirations of the Founders’ vision to the reality of a heavily oversubscribed school. He has successfully overseen the school’s growth year-on-year since our first Year 7 boys started in 2014, he has seen us through the challenges of our prolonged tenure on our temporary site, and he has steered us into our permanent home with a thriving Sixth Form delivering our first Oxbridge successes. He has discharged his pledge to help us create ‘more’ than a school. His is a lasting legacy.
Since his appointment as Executive Headmaster in 2020, Alun has been steadily handing over responsibilities to the school’s senior leadership team, led by David Smith as Head of School. This process continues over the summer term.
Many in the FBS community will wish to have a chance to say goodbye to Alun and we’ll let you know when plans have been made. As Alun moves on to fresh challenges, we thank him for all that he has achieved for FBS and wish him and his family well for the future.
