At FBS we believe in creating a knowledge-rich, broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all boys and prepares them well for the next stage in their lives.
In KS3 the breadth of our curriculum allows boys to study a variety of subjects, gain cultural capital whilst also allowing them each to find their passions and talents. We believe that all boys should learn at least one language, that they should understand the world around them through Humanities and RE lessons as well as being exposed to Art, Music and Drama to develop a lifelong love of the Arts.
In KS4 boys have the chance to specialise in the subjects they enjoy and have a talent in. All boys must study GCSEs in English, Maths, Science, RE, one language as well as either History or Geography. Additionally they can choose two options subjects including; Business Studies, Drama, Art, Product Design, Music, PE GCSE, Sport BTEC, Computing and Latin.
In KS5 boys can choose to study:
- 3 A-Levels plus the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification)
- 4 A-Levels
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport
- BTEC Level 3 Diplomas in Sport plus 1 A-Level
To ensure that all boys are prepared for life post 18 we also expect them to take part in our extensive co-curricular programme as well as Sixth Form sports afternoons on Wednesday. The boys also have the chance to be part of the school student leadership structure and to play a key role as active members of the school community.
